Job Title:  Senior Engineer, Mechanics                                     Date:  10 Feb, 2012         

Department:    Acoustics Asia                                 FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To:   Principal Engineer, Mechanics, Acoustics Asia

Supervisory Responsibilities:



Essential Responsibilities:


•        Supervise a small team of Engineers to achieve project and product development milestones while achieving cost, performance and timing objectives.

•        Participate in the mechanical integration aspects of new product development programs following Harman design standards.  

•        Convey Harman product and system integration requirements to the customer.

•        Use CATIA Version 5 (Revision 19 or higher) software at a skilled level to develop product concepts and designs of Harman/Becker systems and components.  Note: experience with other CAD software is desirable.

•        Conduct DFMEA, DFA and FEA analysis during the development of products. Note:Ansys experience is preferred.

•        Prepare technical reports and presentations per customer requirements, and prepare technical reports and presentations for Harman management, peers, and direct reports, as necessary.

•        Support departmental initiatives and activities as directed by the department supervisor.

•        Provide technical support and guidance for the resolution of various customer and interdepartmental issues, as required.

•        Travel, as required, to customer, supplier and other Harman sites.





Basic Qualifications:


Competency:        Expert knowledge of 3D CAD tools (i.e. CATIA, Unigraphics).

Language:        Fluency in English (written & verbal) is required.
       
Education:        Degree required.

Certifications:        None required.

Experience:        Minimum 5 years related experience.  Previous automotive design experience is required for this position Experience and knowledge in the design and manufacturing requirements of injection molded plastics and stamped metal components is essential. FEA experience is preferred; previous manufacturing operations experience would be beneficial.

Required Skills:


1.        Demonstrated self-starter with ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast paced global automotive design & manufacturing environment。

2.        Strong written and oral communication skills, particularly in English.

3.        Thorough understanding of general 3D design and drafting practices.  Experience and knowledge in applying geometric dimensioning and tolerance principles.

4.        Strong understanding of the design and manufacturing principles used to create and manufacture transducers or similar electromechanical components.

5.        Strong background in the design and manufacturing of injection molded plastic components, cast- and stamped-metal components, as related to Harman audio products.

6.        Working knowledge of FEA and DRBFM/DFMEA techniques.

7.        Demonstrated knowledge of the automotive OEM product design and development process.

8.        Demonstrated ability to manage the activities of a small team team of engineers in order to meet project timing and costs requirements.

9.        Detail oriented.  Demonstrates the ability to transition from theoretical to implementation based thinking.  Strong analytical skills.



Eligibility Requirements:


•        Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time
•        Willingness to work in an office in Suzhou
•        Willingness to submit to a background screen and a drug test
