After the success of the first four SPIEInternational Symposium in 1998, 2001, 2003 and 20-05, the fifth SPIEInternational Symposium on Multi-spectral Image Processing and PatternRe-cognition (ISMIPPR’2001) will be held November 15-17, 2007 in thehistorical city of Wuhan, Ch-ina. Wuhan was established about 3,500years ago, and is of great importance in China’s cul-tural, military,economic and political history. There are many important historicalsites within the city limit. The famous Three Gorges Dam is only about175 miles west of Wuhan.
    This conference will bring together scientists, professors,engineers and graduate students in this field and provide a forum forpresentation, exchange and discussion of recent advances in theory,techniques, algorithms and applications in Multi-spectral ImageProcessing and Pat-tern Recognition. In order to better inform theparticipants of the latest developments in the di-fferent branches ofmulti-spectral image processing and pattern recognition, apart fromgeneral papers to be presented at the forthcoming conference, we shallorganize several special ple-nary sections for top quality invitedpapers.
